After a long conversation, Yem asked me this Q.
“You speak a lot and make people comfortable. So how many best friends do you have?”
Within no gap, I just answered him, “Many!!”
He starred... smiled and asked me the same Q again by specifying, “How many BEST FRIENDS do you have?”
I replied him the same, “Yes! I’ve many!!”
(Smiled again…)
“Dear! I asked you about the Best friends. Not about all those friends who you think are close!”
… … …
“I felt no difference between the Two.”
“I guess you’ve ignored the difference. I do agree that there is no such big difference between the Two, just a small and very thin line that really departs the Two.”
He continued…
“Have you ever noticed about the people, to be specific, in your so called Close friends list, that who encourage you and be with you in all the time?”
I replied, “Yeah! Everyone”
(Smiled again…)
“Well! Listen to me… Have you ever come across a situation like you are feeling down by the words of your friends?”
“Oh come on! That is an usual thing. No two can be identical. And more over how come you can expect everyone’s assurance?”
“No… Don’t get out of the track. I’m telling you that Best friends are those who can understand the lyrics of your silence and always finds a way to encourage you. But sometimes, Close friends don’t!”
... .... ..... ........... Here, the conversation had ended.
Yem also asked me not to find out. He just asked me to keep this in my mind and the day or the other; I’ll get what exactly he means to explain me.
Now, I know the difference. May those to whom we feel comfortable and frank be our close friends, but they couldn’t be our Best. Not all close friends are at their best.
Best friends don’t insult, but close friends do. As they know about us everything, they try to stand besides us, supports and helps us. 'Time' makes us to realize the difference between the Two.
